I sent emeralds still in the tarry matrix and I got back beautiful cut gemstones. I have no reason to suspect anything except above board service. Communication was excellent. I will be a repeat customer.

Good cutting company

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I sent some sapphires and beryl material to be cut and they did a very good job with them. the quality of the cuts are as advertised and much btter than other cutting companies i have tried before.

at first i didnt want to send because of some of the complaints here but i heard lot of good things about them so i took the risk and sent them the material.

after a long customs delay they got the package and informed me of the status of the stones via email and within a week they sent me the bill with a nice video.

and all good in the end. i will use them for my cutting in the future

Highly recommend them

Sithy Gems Stole 50+ carats of Colombian Emeralds

Sithy Gems Stole 50+ carats of Colombian Emeralds
Sithy Gems Stole 50+ carats of Colombian Emeralds - Image 2

Sithy gem cutters are outright thieves. I submitted an 11 ct Colombian Emerald and a 50 ct Colombian emerald.

What was returned were 15 pieces totaling 8.95 ct. In other words it was the leftover garbage from the main gems. There was nothing else returned to me and this defied my order and their acceptance to return any uncutable materials. I asked where the rest of my gems were.

They gave me a song and dance that my stones were difficult and crumbled. These were two solid stones when I sent them. And, I almost forgot, THESE PEOPLE ARE EXPERT GEM CUTTERS. They cut gems for a living and do it all day every day.

With less than 9ct returned out of 61 total carats, I will let you be the judge of where the rest of my emeralds are. Oh, and by the way, the largest gem I got back was 3.5 ct and the color is mostly white with some green spots on it. The rest are much smaller. This company stole everything else of value.

It is an absolute mistake to send them anything. You have been officially warned.

This Customer's rough is poor grade rough, its opaque & brittle rough , we managed to get him 14% yield recovery from his poor grade rough, these emeralds rough not that easy to facet, it keeps breaking and chipping and we kept re-cutting them over again and again, this customer doesn't have no knowledge about his rough emeralds, he had bought a poor quality rough from somewhere and expecting gem cutters to do miracle out of the poor grade rough. ...

which is not possible, his complain was about yield percentage and quality. If anybody listen to someone who doesn't have no knowledge about the rough and have no experience, in cutting emeralds, it will mislead others and its false and wrong accuse, This customer has lack of knowledge, I have warned my customers and had posted in our website when buying rough stones you need to have knowledge, and not to blame the gem cutters due to their poor judgment of buying the rough, gem cutters can not do any miracle out of the poor grade rough. , though he claims it's Colombian emeralds, it doesn't look like. Sir / Madam, we have hundreds of satisfied happy Customers with our services and products, who has knowledge in buying rough and in Cutting, we could always provide you references, who had been working with us for over 10 years Please write to us via email sithygems@gmail.com for more details about this customer and videos pictures of their poor grade rough., and finished stones we managed to Cut.

We always stand crystal clear with vigilance on products and services to our customers, our integrity always stands up in front.

Unfortunately we see these types of unprofessionals customers who has no knowledge on rough stones and blaming gem cutters, for their poor judgment in buying poor grade rough. Thanks

How can you tell that Sithy is a thief? Sithy complains that my rough emerald is poor quality.

Take a look at the picture provided in my original posting. There is almost no matrix or cement, just pure emerald. There are very few points. There are some striations but those should be easily polished smooth.

It is short and compact and the base is even present. I have a geology and crystal background and I personally inspected and removed the fractured material prior to sending it. As far as rough emeralds go you can’t get much better! This 51 carat emerald should have easily yielded a 30 carat cut and polished gem and a 5+ carat gem.

There is no way that this stone would have crumbled like Sithy said it did. On a side note, Beryl is the type of stone emeralds come from and they are slightly more delicate than corundum the stone that produces sapphires and rubies. Any gem cutter knows this and would adjust their cutting and polishing techniques accordingly. In other words Sithy lies when he says that my stone crumbled.

Another way that you know that Sithy is a thief. He states that my stones produced a 14% yield like this is a great accomplishment. Even by Google’s standards rough emeralds produce 30%-70% yields. 14% would be equal to catastrophic loss of material.

He never contacted me throughout the entire processing of my stones! However, to an unsuspecting reader 14% might seem acceptable. With this in mind, Sithy automatically factors in 50% of the yields for himself.

If you send your rough stones to Sithy you better believe you will only receive the left-over junk from the main cuttings because he keeps the best for himself. Please Don’t Trust This Lying Thief.

Ken Munnell is putting blame on the cutters calling liars and thief due to his lack of knowledge, his rough is poor grade emerald rough further it's formation of crystal structure is like salty formation ( more like calcite). Further stone is more flatter.

Dear readers, if we would had lied and cheated people we would have gone out of business long time ago and you would have seen hundreds of complaints from other Customers too, but you see few who aren't satisfied with the out come due to their poor quality rough.,and blaming cutters, Dear Readers, we had been cutting gems for USA & European Market for 25 years, we have thousands of customers who had worked with us, we could give references to anybody who would like to know about us.

If he flashes a torchlight it doesn't mean stone is perfect alright, Its translucent to Opaque stone, This represents Ken's has lack of knowledge on the cutting side. If you need more information please contact us sithygems@gmail.com

@Sainul M here is another customer you stole from. You have had 25 years to practice your lies.

I detailed my experience above in which you stole the best stones I sent you in an almost identical manner. You lies are the same too - you are the expert so people should trust you. These other people and I have nothing to gain by taking time to warn people of your thievery, while you make money when you lie.

You said you could do whatever you want in Sri Lanka - and that seems true. The police will not arrest you there, but people around the world should spread the word you are not to be trusted.

These are the same lies Mohamed Sainul (I think the owner) tells about stealing my opals. He calls them cheap commercial stones as if he remembers them - I am sure he does not.

My opal mining experience is over 20 years and there were four excellent stones and one mediocre stone. They stole completely the excellent stones and cut the one cheaper stone into many tiny stones - event though my explicit direction was to cut large stones. He recycles the same lies and ends with ´if I were stealing you would hear complaints from other people´, and here is an example of multiple people exposing his greed and dishonesty.

He was also quite aggressive and abusive when the theft is reported. Never interested in researching what happened - just denials and insults to me as the foolish customer who trusted him.

I am a professional gem miner now, with many years professional in the gem business. My other cutter died after millions of dollars of business (barnowlc on eBay).

Some of the stones sent were not even color matched. Others were color matched but not the same mineral,...

Original review Sep 07, 2021
Call me for details (UCSB geologist many years professional cut stone business Alan VanArsdale). About 1/4 of what was returned to me were random cheap cabs color matched to my rough but certainly not cut from my rough. The scam is to ship cabs worth about $150 a kilo charging it as if cut from my rough at $2,500 per kilo.

Yes.... Alan is a geologist ( only knows about rocks ) but he is not a GEMOLOGIST or neither having any experience in Gem Cutting, He shipped many rocks ( not gem quality rough), wanted us to cut for higher yield recovery, we did cut for him higher yield , and he agreed on the cutting rates and he paid us the Invoice for Lapidary Work, due to his poor quality rocks, we got him some unpleasant Colors of Cabs, after cutting, which we have no control over the appearance of the finished Cabs.

, gem cutters could only cut stones, can not enhance the gems by oiling & dying process. Which he needs to get it done oiling and dying from someone to make them look pleasant. , but he don't want to.... Further his Cabochons were Cut in smaller sizes for Pendants and Rings., he paid us $0.50 per Carat, we managed to get a yield recovery of 2500 carats finished stones out of 1.5 kilos of rocks ( from raw stones) Alan, has no knowledge and wanting Gem Cutters to make miracles out of his poor grade rocks.

Further 70% of his stones were pretty good, could easily set it in Sterling silver Jewelries and remaining 30% need some dying & oiling before setting into the Jewelries. But due to lack of knowledge and not knowing about the Gem & Jewelry Market, he kept accusing & blaming...gem cutters, As Gem Cutter.... it's very hard to please people who has no knowledge on Gem and Jewelry industry.

, specially not knowing the difference of Gem Quality rough & low grade Rocks, Gem Quality rough need to be transparent to translucent but rocks basically looks Opaque, His raw stones are opaque rocks. Please contact us for more information via email sithygems@***.com

The faceted gems arrived a few days ago, and they are fabulous! I was incredibly impressed with your ability to cut these stones for optimum beauty, artistry, and clarity;especially given the fact that these were stones previously rejected by another gemcutter, because they said they were too fractured or cracked to cut. Now I have beautiful, faceted stones I can use or give away as gifts instead of just the raw minerals. In addition to this, your prices were much less expensive.I have already recommended your services to a friend of mine who joined me on our sapphire dig last year. Thank you, again, Brooke Hartman

Underinsured shipment and refused to file claim for theft

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We sent a sizable parcel of Montana sapphires to Sithy to be cut. They supposedly completed cutting and shipped them back.

However, they shipped them in a sheet metal tin which someone pried open and emptied, so all I received was an empty package. When I notified them, they flat out refused to file a claim with the carrier, even though the parcel was supposed to have been insured.

It turns out, they had only insured it for about 5% of the wholesale value of the stones, and probably didn't want me finding out. Definitely don't trust these guys with your stones.

This Customer is falsely accusing us., please read my respond and you be our judge. There's a procedure with every post office, if a package is accepted by recipient and signed for it, on our end we can't do anything much, this Customer should have refused to accept the damaged postal shipment and would have refused to accept it and to return it back as parcel is damaged, then on our end with our Postal we could have file claim recover full insurance coverage.

But he accepted parcel from U.S postal without refusing and he is asking for us to get the insurance coverage, without helping us with legal documentation ( he had to obtain from U.S postal ),once he provide us the legal paper works, we could havw claimed the insurance for him. when we checked with our postal in SriLanka , Our postal says he had already accepted the parcel, in order to continue with further claim, recipient has to file a claim with his U.S Postal explaining the situation, but he did not do it... As a help we gave some of our valuable Fancy Sapphires to over come part of his loss and to treat him as our valuable Customer.

Unfortunately he did not escalate a claim with his postal atleast parcel was damaged and received with some stones missing, and did not escalate the claim with U.S postal and provide us the legal documents for us to continue on his claim on our end and recover some money but, he did not do it, and complaining us, and writing false accuses. His name is Arron , What Arron had written bad about our Company is a very big lie, He was tricking me to get it done at free of charge. If he had paid our invoice for the Cutting job we would have shipped his Stones, we have no reason to hold on to his stones, after all we have put our labor into material & he wanted for free, No gem Cutters will do that.

He is black listed here by Sri Lanka authority, for none payment. Yes, initially he shipped some rough stones & we did cut them for him and he paid us on time, after many months later he was accusing that some stones are cut poorly and asking for Credit, We told him to re-send poorly cut stones, will fix it for him at free of charge. Further for his next Order will give him a discount on the Invoice. He agreed but he shipped us fresh rough stones not the cut stones he was claiming to be poorly cut.

We cut his new rough stones lot and Invoiced him with the Discount, he refused to pay & wanted at free of Charge. We said to him until you Pay off the Invoice, will not ship his stones. Sir, we have hundreds of Customers working with us for many years from USA & other part of the World, none had issues like this. Arron his is a Culprit.

He either unable to understand us, or He might would had felt it he could have cut his stones in China Cheaper ( poor quality rough & low Rates). This my True statement against his fale's accuse.

Further he was using abusive Language and threatening me to shoot me. Thanks Sincerely Sainul Mohamed.

I worked with Sithy Gems Sri Lanka

We have been working with Sithy Gems for last 7 years we never had any problems with them. they cutting quality is great... and they are trust worth company. Recently i asked Mr.Sainul, about these upset customers.., has posted negative things about Sithy Gems online. He mentioned to go to his web-site and see how many visitors has visited. I did that and found 87,000 visitors. and Mr.Sainul mentioned me 3% customers has bought services and product, 2610 customers. Out of just few one or two had complained falsely about him and his company. But still has not changed his business name or address. He still remain in the business. Therefore he say he has 100's of repeat customers working with him. I feel sorry for Mr.Sainul and to his workers. These two individual using internet for their accuse, wrong full accuse. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE/?STOLEN GEMS

Customer service was HORRIBLE. Had to repeatedly email to get anything done. It took 3 months of constant harrassment to get stones back. They would repeatedly email me with all kinds of excuses as to why they weren't cutting my gems, or why they hadn't sent them. Sent rough stones to be cut, but it did not appear that we got back the right amount of stones compared to what we sent over. DON'T USE them if you can find someone else!!! If you have gems that you really value I would not send them to these guys! Find someone else.

It's completely a fabricated lies, written against Sithy Gems Lapidary SriLanka, Sithy Gems Lapidary in Gem Cutting, Sapphires Heat Treating, Jewelry Making and Producing Swiss & Green Topaz, beside selling Ceylon Blue Sapphires. Only few bad apples ( competitors of Sithy Gems ), trying their max to hurt their business.

Sithy Gems Lapidary had never change their business name or location, it's still the same, they are member International Gem Society ( IGS ) since 2000, you could work with them with 100% confident, they will not let you down, they're trustworthy people. Thanks John

I am a regular customer of Sithy Gems and have had a consistently good experience with them. This year I sent them a large lot of Oregon Sunstones, many of them the very valuable true reds, greens and dichroics.

They all came back, carefully packaged and categorized as i requested. The cuts were excellent. The angles and meets are good and the polish is top notch. Sithy used very good judgement in determining orientation vs.

yield.

I am a faceter myself and can say that their quality is a big step above the 'usual' commercial cutting houses.

The results are best if you provide clear instructions or they will assume you want to cut for best yield.

They are communicative and responsive, and I will certainly continue doing business with them.

Sithy Gems in Sri Lanka stole my opals

Please stay away from Sithy Gems in Sri Lanka. I have mined for opals in Nevada for the last (15) years and have some great ones to get cut and polished. The Sithy Gems web site seemed reasonable and I didn’t find negative reviews when I searched the web to check them out, so I decided to take a chance. Here is a warning for other people that Sithy Gems is a dishonest place, and you will probably get robbed by them if you send them nice stones. The emails with Sainul Mohamed (he also goes by Sainul M.) at Sithy Gems in Sri Lanka sounded good and I was promised excellent work at a good price. I sent 190 carats of opal, with 70 carats in three stones of solid grade A fire. The other stones had a face of grade A fire attached to lesser quality material. He said there was 55 carats of completed opals and charged me about $85 dollars for the lapidary work. When I received the final stones they had kept all of the grade A stones and sent me the polished junk that was left over. They know how to use the PayPal system by waiting close to 45 days to get the stones to me after I paid them. When I objected to them taking the stones and asking for them back, after several emails Mr. Mohamed said I was an ignorant old man, and they have so many opals available they would not want to take mine. This didn’t make an impression on me since (1) I don’t believe I am either ignorant or especially old, and (2) I have helped grade opals at the Bonanza Mine in Nevada for sale and I know the opals they took are the very bright opals that sell easily. My goal had been to gift these to my family after they were polished, but I know they were worth a couple thousand dollars at least as finished stones, probably much more. I expected one or two stones might go missing, but they took every stone of strong fire. Lesson learned and passed on to others. I believe stealing your top stones is a way of business for Sithy Gems in Sri Lanka.
